Joseph D. Spencer, age 86, of Holly, died Sat. July 7, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wed. July 11, 2012 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Jack McMaster officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 PM Tuesday. Mr. Spencer was born in Liss, KY on Dec. 10, 1925 the son of Jackson and Nancy (Church) Spencer. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy. He was retired from GM. Mr. Spencer loved bowling, gardening, hunting, drag racing, baseball, and animals. He is survived by his wife Janice; 5 children, Steve (Naomi) Spencer of Linden; James (Rae Ann) Spencer of Fenton, Randy (Kim) Spencer of Linden, Yvonne Staffne of Grand Blanc, and Nalena (Jim) Culver of Grand Blanc; 2 step-children, Lisa (Brian) Irish of Fenton and Dan (Beth) Irwin of Canton; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife Virginia and son Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc. www.dryerfuneralhomeholly.com
