Nelson, Theodore Joseph “Ted” - Age 98, of Grand Blanc. A memorial service will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Burton with burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Those desiring may make contributions to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Ted was born April 16, 1920 in Cleveland Ohio the son of Joseph and Mary (Kieljan) Niedzwiecki. Mr. Nelson married his beloved Helen Majda in Flint on May 6, 1944; they were married nearly 75 years. She preceded him in death October 17, 2018. Mr. Nelson was a long time resident of Grand Blanc. He was a WWII veteran with 330 combat hours in the South Pacific, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and Silver Star. He retired as Senior Industrial Engineer from GM Fisher Body Grand Blanc in 1980 with 27 years of service. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 4090 3rd and 4th degree, Davison P.L.A.V. Post 8. He enjoyed world wide traveling having visited over 30 countries. Surviving are: daughter, Rosemery (David) Nelson Gray of Greensboro, NC and son T.J. (Maxine) Nelson II of Houston TX; grandsons, Ted (Beth) Nelson III of Dallas TX, Jason M. (Sheri) Nelson of San Antonio, TX; Benjamin Gray of Greensboro, NC and Brendt Gray of Greensboro, NC and two great grandsons, Michael T. and Matthew J. Nelson. He was also survived by his nieces, Gerri McKeown and Mary Roslyn Key; nephews, George and Christopher Marzonie and Jack Slagor. He was also preceded in death by his sister Stephanie Slagor.
