STUART, Robert "Bob" Manes - Age 89, of Linden, died Saturday, December 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, January 11, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Seth Normington officiating. Burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 12-4 and 5-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Loose Senior Center, 707 N. Bridge St., Linden.
Bob was born March 14, 1926 in Ferndale, the son of Thomas M. and Myrtle (Hamilton) Stuart. He was a 1944 graduate of Plymouth High School. He served in the Air Force from 1944 - 1946. Bob married Virginia Joanne Dorey August 19, 1950 in Angola, IN, they were married for 64 years and she preceded him in death January 19, 2015. He graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology and received a degree in electrical engineering. Bob worked for Detroit Edison for over 42 years retiring in 1992. He resided in Linden in 1993 having moved from Dearborn. Bob was an avid sailor, racing over 35 Port Huron to Mackinac races.
Surviving are: 3 children, Thomas M. Stuart of Lake Orion, Joanne S. Bourdo of Port Austin, and Martha (John) Bergquist of Lake Orion. granddaughter, Alexandra Virginia Bergquist attending Michigan Tech University; brother-in-law, Stan Caroen; sister-in-law, Eleanor Gumkowski; and special friends, Gary and Lori Sparagowski and their children, John and Becky.
