PERDUE, Ernest “Ernie” – of Burton, MI, age 73, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 27, 2024 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors 1-2 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Ernest’s memory.
Ernie was born in Harbor Beach, MI on May 10, 1951, son of the late William Thomas and Dorothea Aileen (Carson) Perdue. He married Debra Schelke on October 11, 1975. Ernie was a dedicated and hard-working man, retiring from General Motors on February 1, 2024, after an impressive 54 and a half years of service. His dedication to his job was unparalleled, never missing a day of work, a true testament to his reliability and work ethic. Ernie was a beloved member of his community, always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. He enjoyed coming up with creative solutions to everyday problems. Every morning, he enjoyed drinking his coffee, reading the paper, and watching the news. Ernie had a deep love for all Detroit sports teams, including the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He also took immense pride in maintaining his lawn and had a special fondness for his Black 1998 Chevy Tahoe. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in deer hunting and feeding the local birds, always cherishing the serenity of nature. Ernie's legacy is one of dedication, love, and community spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Debra; children, Travis Perdue, Jason (Nicole) Perdue, Brandon (Dayna) Perdue; siblings, Sally Scott, Bob (Sharon) Perdue, Nancy Reinke, Janis Pleiness, Janice Perdue, Billy (Ellen) Perdue; and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Patricia Braun, Doris Smith, and Gloria Schmaltz; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Smith, Dave Schmaltz, Wayne Reinke, and Al Pleiness.
