YAKLIN, James H. – of Davison, age 81, passed away September 3, 2012 at MediLodge of Montrose. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. On Friday, there will be visitation at the church for one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
James was born in Maple Grove Twp. on December 11, 1930, son of the late Anthony and Eleanor (Henige) Yaklin. He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. James was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Davison and past member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed yard work, golfing and dancing. James was a sales representative for Swift Independent, retiring with 40 years of service in December 1988. Upon retirement, he worked for Flint Provisions and The Flint Auto Auction. James was a proud, hardworking man of integrity.
James is survived by his wife, Gertrude; children, Tim (Jeanette) Yaklin and Julie (Chris) Noel; grandchildren, Jeremy (Elizabeth), Melissa (David), Jessica, Taylor, Kelly, Nicole and Matt; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Lelia, Katelyn, Josephine and Noah; siblings, Robert, Richard, Virginia, Sally and Ernestine; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Scott; granddaughter, Grace; siblings, Clair, Vincent, Donald, Sylvan, Aloysius, Angelita and Geraldine.
