Harold entered the Promised Land he so wished for on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the age of 87 years, after a lengthy and courageous struggle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Maurer) Krafft after 64 years of a blessed marriage and a business partnership in a successful dairy operation on East Curtis Road in Frankenmuth Township. Also cherished are their children, Dennis and friend Theresa Maday, Kathy and Ralph Munger, Mary Jane and James Borchard, Robert and Debra (Krenke) Krafft, and Timothy Krafft, along with 5 granddaughters, Cassidy (Aaron) Munger-Dunham, Johanna (Jason) VanderWall, Kristi (David) Krafft-Bellsky, Katie Krafft, Kellie Krafft and fiancé Craig Birch, 5 grandsons, Nathan, David, and Aaron Krafft, Jeremy and Alex Borchard, and one great-grandson, Thys VanderWall. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Norman (Joanne) Krafft, and Louis (Ardis) Krafft and 1 sister, Sally Roth and many nieces and nephews.
Harold was predeceased by a son, Donald, daughter-in-law Sally Krafft, granddaughter, Jennifer Borchard, great-granddaughter Anaya VanderWall, and 2 sisters, Eleanor Krafft, and Luella Garchow.
Harold served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was actively involved as a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and was involved in agricultural and civic service. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and card playing. Harold will be remembered for his faithfulness to God, his family, his church, the community, and his country.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark D. Brandt will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Harold’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
