CHANEY, Morris Dean ‘Bud’ - Of Grand Blanc, age 83, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his residence.
A celebration of his life will be held 4pm Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Bud Chaney Jr. officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Contributions may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project.
Visitation 12 Noon Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Morris was born in Monticello, Illinois on February 17, 1934, the son of the late Leland and Daisy Chaney and was a resident of the Flint area most of his life. On October 18, 1954, he married Shirley Foster in Angola, Indiana. Morris served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Journeyman Pressman for The Flint Journal, Detroit News/Free Press, Saginaw News and the Lansing State Journal. Morris was a member of New Creation Church of God and active in their Men’s Group and a past member of the choir. He loved spending time with his family, the Detroit Tigers, U of M football and completing crossword puzzles.
Surviving are wife, Shirley;
Children, Lt. Col. Kim (Greta), Bud Jr. (Pam), Julia (Joseph) Kohler, Todd (Anne) and Kevin (Amy);
and Brother, Dr. Ric (Pattie).
He was Papa Bud to his 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Wilson and nephew, Kelly Wilson.
