HEGGAN, Russell – of Clio, age 86, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be 11AM Monday, May 13, 2013 at Mt. Morris Community Church, G 7245 N. Center Rd., Mt. Morris. Pastor Paul Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Flint Memorial Park with military honors presented by Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post #1452. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Sunday from 2-8PM. He will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to Mt. Morris Community Church.
Russell was born April 10, 1927 in Ancora, New Jersey to the late Raymond and Ruth (Owens) Heggan. He lived in Clio most of his life. Russell served as a private in the Army Air Corps during 1945- 1947. He did his apprenticeship training through GMI. Russell married Berneice Boyd on September 6, 1952, she preceded him in death on April 2, 2013. He retired in 1996 from Fisher Body, formerly Ternstedt with 46 years seniority. He was a member of UAW Locals # 326 and UAW Local# 1292. Russell was a member of Mt. Morris Community Church and the Investment Discovery Club. He enjoyed playing harmonica, collecting coins, his restored John Deere H tractor, camping and spending time with his family.
Surviving are: 6 children, Sherri (Larry) Russell of Flushing, Kathy Otto of Mt. Morris, David (Debbie) Heggan of Clio, Linda (Kerry) Swanson of FL, Mark (Gayle) Heggan of TN, Jennifer Heggan (companion Gary Maroun) of Clio; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Lyle Mudge of Clio; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Suzanne Lehr, Russ Cummins.
