HEMPEL, Ernestine Joyce - Of Grand Blanc, age 82, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held 11am Monday, September 24, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 South Holly Road, Grand Blanc,
The Rev. Dr. Todd A. Biermann officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Contributions may be made to Eastern Michigan Food Bank.
Visitation 10am Monday at church until the time of the service.
Ernestine was born in Bethany Township, Michigan on December 6, 1935, the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Wolfgang. On June 12, 1954, she married Carl Hempel. Ernestine’s number one priority was being a homemaker and spending time with her family. She was a proud crafter and co-owner of We Wood Limited for 20 years with her husband, Carl. Ernestine also enjoyed gardening every spring and she had a witty sense of humor and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are husband, Carl;
sons, David (Mari) Hempel and Carl Jr. Hempel;
son-in-law, Greg Aurand;
grandchildren Matthew Aurand, Elizabeth (Adam) Mitteer and Erin (Rico) Turner;
and great-granddaughters, Nina and Natalya Turner.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Aurand.
