WYKES, Gilbert John - age 83, of Gaines, passed away, August 13, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held 2PM Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be 12PM until the time of service Thursday. Gilbert was born March 20, 1936 in Gaines the son of Edward and Gatha (Gilbert) Wykes. He was a graduate of Gaines H.S. class of 1954. Gilbert married Patricia Slocum in Swartz Creek August 23, 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1959 in Korea. Gilbert retired from Grand Trunk/CNN Railroad on March 1, 1998 after 44 years of service.
Surviving are: his beloved wife of 60 years, Pat; sons, Mark (Michele) Wykes of Riverview, FL, Scott (Barbara) Wykes of Swartz Creek, and Guy (Michelle) Wykes of Burt; grandchildren, T.Sgt. Michael (Nichole) Wykes of Colorado Springs, CO, Mathew (Nichole) Wykes of Groveland, FL, Mary Alicia Wykes of Tampa, FL, Cal Wykes of Swartz Creek, Carly Wykes of Swartz Creek, and Nicole Wykes of Burt; great grandchildren, Chris, Nate, and Noah Wykes of Colorado Springs, CO, Landon Wykes of Groveland, FL, Mayliah and Paris McNair, and Jayden Wykes of Tampa, FL; sister Ethel Sandford of Gaines.
