Jeanne L. Rathfon
Age 87 of Chesaning passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery with a dinner at Chesaning Lions Club afterwards. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, April 21.
Jeanne was born on June 9, 1929 to Howard E. and Betsey P. (Laurie) Riggs in Ann Arbor. She graduated from Ypsilanti High School and earned her Associate Degree from Normal College. Jeanne married Sidney O. Rathfon on October 21, 1948.
During her life, Jeanne worked as a secretary for Flushing Public Schools and the City of Flint. She was a talented artist, and she enjoyed bowling and golf. She was a member of the Chesaning Lioness Club, and she volunteered as a Cub Scout Master and Girl Scout Leader. She was also featured in the Book of Who's Who for her art.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Betsy (John) Gould, George (Dawn) Rathfon, and Mary (Ron) Long; her daughter-in-law, Betty Rathfon; her 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patricia (John) West.
She is predeceased by her husband, Sidney; her son, Paul Rathfon; and her parents.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Chesaning Lion's Club.
