Hill, Onofre Martinez, Jr. of Flint, age 83, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Hurley Medical Center. Onofre was also known as Mike or Sonny to many family and friends. Funeral Mass will be 1p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 Coldwater Rd., Flint, 48505. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home, 307 E. Main St. Flushing, 48433, and 12 noon Friday at the church until the time of the Mass at 1 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project.
Onofre was born in Uvalde, Texas, the son of Onofre G. and (Josefa “Chepa” (Martinez) Hill, Sr. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan during the Vietnam War. Onofre worked as an Auto Line Worker in the paint department for Fischer Body. After Fischer Body closed, Onofre then continued his work at Buick City where he retired. Onofre was a member of the local UAW #599. Sonny was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He loved watching John Wayne Westerns and playing the Daily Lottery. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. You could often find Sonny having breakfast at El Especial, drinking coffee and reading the Detroit Free Press.
Sonny is survived by his significant other, Priscilla Drinkwine; grandchildren, Desiree Drinkwine, Lilia Hill, Anthony (fiancée Madison Hanna) Hill, Baileah (fiancé Randall Fisher) Seidell; great-grandchildren, Dalaan, De’Anee, Graisen; stepdaughter, Tracy (Bruce) Osborne; stepson, Robert Drinkwine; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Hill; father, Onofre G. Hill, Sr.; mother, Josefa “Chepa” Hill; sister, Esdula Vargas; brothers, Rubin Hill, Ramon Hill; and niece, Cynthia Hill.
