SPENCER, John Gilmore. – of Montrose, age 86, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Flint First Wesleyan Church, 3825 Davison Rd., in Flint. Pastor Scott Grigonis officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Friday from 11AM until 8PM and at the Church on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Flint First Wesleyan Food Bank.
John was born April 26, 1931 in Montrose, Michigan to the late Louis N. and Mary Anna (Shannon) Spencer. He married Phyllis Kitchin on August 10, 1957 at Mizpah United Missionary Church in Cass, City. John is a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from Buick in 1988 with 38 years seniority. John was a member of the UAW Local #599 and Flint First Wesleyan Church in Flint. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and
gardening.
Surviving are: Wife, Phyllis Spencer of Montrose; Children: David (Gail) Spencer of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, Joyce (Robert) Stratton of Midland, Carol (David) Richardson of Davison, Daniel (Marilyn) Spencer of Camden, Tennessee. 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; Siblings: Betty Lou Goslow, and Charles Warren Spencer; Sister in law, Betty Jean Spencer; Many other loving family members and friends. John was also preceded in death by his grandson, Russell Spencer; Siblings: James Spencer and Georgetta Stansfield; Brothers in law: Roy Kitchin and Robert Stansfield; Sister in law, Ruth Ursery.
