Donna Carol Jones, age 87, of Flint, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 23, 2024. She spent time traveling the country on motorcycle and simply enjoyed long scenic drives. She loved shopping, reading, and fashion. Donna always kept up with the latest craze. She never left the home without the latest makeup, accessories, and outfits. She was the queen of style until the very end. Her music taste also inspired her. She loved musicals, musical theatre, and even gospel music, especially when it came to Elvis. Her children have many fond memories of playing the numerous 50’s centered records.
Donnas’ professional life was extremely important to her. Her huge heart and giving spirit made her the best CNA anyone could ask for. Her sense of humor brightened her patient’s day whether at the nursing home or the hospital. Her dedication to her patients even brought her in on her scheduled days off. She eventually ended her career at Hurley Hospital in Flint. When she would later come in as a patient, she was able to brighten her caregivers’ days as well.
Donna enjoyed spending time out of the home, but always made a point to make her bed. Donnas’ presence was strong, matriarchal, determined, and witty. She had a deep affection for dogs and was entertained by their presence.
Donna is survived by her adored children Dawn Hoeft and Darren Jones; grandchildren Erica (Jacob Hunt) Woodruff, Jamie (Robert) Kirk, Jacob Jones, and Sophie Jones; great-grandchildren Audrey Stetkewycz, and Michael Kirk; and adored dog Dexter. Donna was preceded in death by her parents McClellan and Bernadette Butler; son Dwayne Butler; daughter Linda Jones; brother Lee Butler; son-in-law Arthur Hoeft; and several adored rescue dogs.
In keeping with Donna’s wishes, arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A celebration of her life will take place at Elba Township Hall on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2 PM- 6 PM. Donna will be inurned at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint, MI. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County. |
