FORTIN, Sandra Lee. – of Houghton Lake, age 69, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Munson Hospital of Grayling. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial in Thetford Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 4PM until 8PM and on Tuesday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.
Sandy was born March 20, 1946 in Flint, Michigan to the late George O. and Helen L. (Boger) McClain. She was a 1964 graduate of Clio High School. Sandy married Jim Fortin August 6, 1994 in Flint. She was a bank teller for many years. Sandy was a very valued member of the Rusty Nuts Car Club for over 8 years, an organization that has generated substantial money for local charities, including the Special Olympics. In 2013 the club was inducted into the Michigan Special Olympics Hall of fame. She enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers, card games and attending car shows with Jim. Sandy also enjoyed camping, fishing and boating. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Son, Kevin (Tina) Bates of Fountain, Colorado; Daughter, Kristi (Dean) Ward of Lapeer; 3 grandchildren: Patrick Ward, Abby Edwards and Sophie Ward; 1 great-grandson, Wyatt Edwards; Brothers: Richard (Dawn) McClain and Wayne (Sheryl) McClain; Sister, Mary (Jim) Blakeley; Several nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
