STUART, Virginia Joanne (Dorey) - Age 86, of Linden, died Monday, January 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 23, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Seth Normington officiating. Burial Monday January 26, 2015 at 11:30 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 12-4 and 5-9 PM and Friday from 12PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Loose Senior Center, 707 N. Bridge St., Linden.
Virginia was born March 23, 1928 in Detroit the daughter of Leonard T. and Clara A. (Knight) Dorey. She was a 1946 graduate of Plymouth High School. Following graduation she worked for Kaiser Frazer Car Company in Willow Run. She married Robert M. Stuart August 19, 1950 in Angola, IN. Once her children started school she went to work for AAA for 14 years, retiring in 1990. Virginia had resided in Linden since 1993 coming from Dearborn. She was a member of Linden Presbyterian Church and she also was a member and past president of the Linden Kiwanis. Friends and family would describe Virginia as spirited, adventurous and generous.
Surviving are: her husband of 64 years, Robert; 3 children, Thomas M. Stuart of Lake Orion, Joanne Stuart Bourdo of Port Austin, and Martha (John) Stuart Bergquist of Lake Orion. granddaughter, Alexandra Virginia Bergquist attending Michigan Tech University; brother-in-law, Stan Caroen of Ypsilanti; and special friends, Gary and Lori Sparagowski and their children, John and Becky.
