Bob was born on January 28, 1945 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Leo and Bernice (McCuaig) Yaklin. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1964 and hired into AC Spark Plug, working for GM hourly & salary, then EDS for 35 years, retiring in 1999.

Bob served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965-1969 and was honorably discharged as a Sgt.

Bob married Sandra L. Brotherton on January 23, 1971 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton. Together they raised a daughter, Coby Lyn and she blessed them with four grandchildren, Carl, Samuel, Nathan and Katelyn.

Bob and Sandy enjoyed many vacations with their family and friends. Thanks to the GI Bill, Bob graduated from Baker College with an Accounting major/Data Processing minor degree in 1978. For many years, Bob's salary position at AC/Delphi East was in the programming area as the scheduler/coordinator servicing financial systems. Towards the end of his career, he worked in asset management; coordinating inventories of computer equipment and refurbishing older computers to be donated to schools and various charitable organizations.

In 1978 Bob began preparing income taxes at Tadrick's Tax Service in Flint. In 1980 he went out on his own and started Yaklin's Tax Service. In 1999 he returned to Tadrick's as their floor supervisor, but, also continued to service his own clientele, including this tax season.

Bob and Sandy supported many charitable organizations. They were particularly active with Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, where Bob had 6 “little brothers”. In later years he supported the organization financially through fund raising efforts and donating many tickets to sporting events. Bob was awarded the “Joe Shovel's Lifetime Service Award” in 2008. He was a big fan of sports, having season tickets to the Tigers and Pistons. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and played some pool, too. He was very proud of his daughter, 4 grandchildren, his personal relationship with his tax clients, ticket connections and his 1994 Corvette.

Bob is survived by his mother, Bernice Murphy;

sisters-in-law, Patricia Staab and Geraldine Brotherton;
step-brothers, Michael and wife Anna Murphy, Leonard and wife Sharon Wright; step-sister, Dawn Zacharias;
