BENJAMIN, Lily M. "Konnie" -- Age 91, of Swartz Creek, formerly of Clio, died November 14, 2012 died peacefully with family and friends by her side at Living Joy in Flushing. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, November 19 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek, Fr. Nate Sokol celebrant. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clio. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday, 1-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, with a 6 PM Vigil service at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, and 10 AM until the time mass at the church on Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimers Association.

She was born July 19, 1921 in Clayton Township the daughter of Fred and Antonia (Gazarek) Konecny. She graduated from Owosso High School in 1938 and Hurley Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She married Elwin L. Benjamin in 1949 he preceded her in death in 1980. She had worked as a Registered Nurse for Hurley Hospital for many years. She and her husband owned and operated the Benjamin Whipple Funeral Home in Clio for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

Surviving are: son Brian L. and wife Rebecca Benjamin of Swartz Creek; three grandchildren Alena and Lewis Benjamin, and Grace Harcz; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Jerry, Ben, and Martin Konecny; and sister Betty Sedlak. Konnie's family extends a special thank you to Living Joy Memory Care of Flushing, Hartland Home Care and Hospice; special friend, Laurie Webber; and special niece Terry Konecny.
