WALTER, Linda S. – of Davison, MI, age 78, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 2 PM Saturday, August 8, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. The family will receive visitors from 4-8 PM Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday. Inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in Linda’s memory.
Linda was born in Flint, MI on September 6, 1941, daughter of the late Hugh and Hildreth (Foltz) Simmons. She married John Walter on December 26, 1973. Linda graduated from Central High School in Flint and went on to work many years at General Motors before retiring to become a home maker. She loved to cook and spend time with her beloved dog, Sophie. Linda was a member of the Flint Elk’s Lodge #222 Does. She lived in Davison, MI and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, John Walter; step-daughter, Lezlie (Alan) McDanial; step-grandchildren, Mandy Bruff, Annie and Steven Wellman; step great-grandson, Aaron Bruff; special nephew, DuWayne (Marianne) Zaruba. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Louis Simmons; sisters, Elizabeth Hoffman, Joan Pertler and Jean Allie; and step-son, John Walter, Jr.
