HENIGE, Rita – Of Flint, age 82, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Henige will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Rita was born in Flint, Michigan on October 7, 1930, the daughter of the late Lewis and Eleanor (Dillon) Hengesbaugh.
On August 21, 1954 she married Bill (Dr. William, DDS) Henige in Flint and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1999.
Rita was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She so enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the family cottage on Coldwater Lake. Rita was a life long Flint resident, except for short period while Bill was in the Air Force, and was a long time member of Holy Redeemer Parish.
Surviving are three children, Deborah (John) Compall,
Brad and Monte (Lisa);
grandchildren, Alyse, Tim and Claire Compall, Tony (April) Powell, Teya (Drew) Currant, Mary’K, Alex, Jack, Paige, Kate and Caroline Henige;
two great-grandchildren, Ian Powell and Dominic Currant;
brother, Clare (Dorothy) Hengesbaugh;
sister, Carol (Arthur) Jacobs;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Bernie and Ted Hengesbaugh; sisters, Eleanor Doerr and Jean Hengesbaugh IHM.
