ROYAL, Helen L. – of Clio, age 79, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at her daughter’s residence. Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Ken Coughlin officiating. Burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8 PM, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 PM, and at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church or the Genesys Hurley Cancer Center.
Helen was born on April 16, 1936 in Flint to the late Frank and Mable (Braley) Ruzicka and resided in Clio since 1968. She married Robert Royal on January 7, 1956. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1970. Helen retired from AC in 1992 with 36 years seniority. She was a member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church and the UAW Local #651. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, painting, gardening, shopping and especially spending time with her family.
Surviving are: Children: Robert (April) Royal of Clio, Sandra (Todd) West of Burton, Julie (Steve) Newman of Clio, Tina (Lawrence) Ham of Flushing, Margo (Rick) Powers of Clio, Diane Bauders (fiancé Bob Colston) of Clio; 16 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Francis (Eleanor) Ruzicka of FL; Sister, Rosemary O’Dell of Bitely; Sister-in-law, Grace Ruzicka of Davison; 2 Brothers-in-law, Thomas Stewart of OH and Thomas (Sally) Royal of Flint; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by: Husband, Robert Royal; 2 Sisters, Joan McKay and Barbara Stewart; Brother, John “Bud” Ruzicka; 2nd Husband, Don Hayes in 1997; and a fiancé, Edwin Young in 2014.
