ST JOHN, Clare Duane – of Davison, age 91, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion will be held at 7:30 PM Wednesday. Cremation will follow visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davison Library.

Clare was born on March 6, 1923 to Mildred Uldean and Lee St John in Flint Michigan. He lived in the Davison area his entire life. He married Mary Ann Horton on August 20, 1949 and raised two daughters and one son. Clare loved his family. He provided love and devoted care to Mary Ann during her long illness. He loved the time spent with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. His time spent at the cottage at Higgins Lake was always special. Clare was an engineer by both education and skill, retiring as Superintendent of Maintenance from Chevrolet. This skill was shown in his woodworking and design ability. He was an avid reader and stayed up to date on everything going on in the world. He served in the Marines along with his brother and sister in World War II and was a long time member of the Davison American Legion.

Clare is survived by daughters, Nancy (Skip) Davis of Davison, Michigan, Jamie (Luther) Greer of Grayling, Michigan; his sister Shirley Herron; granddaughters, Stephanie (Josh), Jessica, Darcy; grandson, Bryan (Leslie) and four great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann, son, Lee and brother, Wayne.
