Robert E. Braden, of Byron, age 96, died Saturday, September 22, 2018. Funeral
services will be held 11am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Byron Methodist Church,
Byron, Michigan, with Reverend Barbara Benjamin and Craig Anglin officiating. Interment will follow at Union Plains Cemetery, Byron. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the church beginning at 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A Masonic Service will be held on Friday at 7:00 pm at the church by Byron Masonic Lodge #80 F & AM. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11am Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s honor to the Byron Methodist Church or the Michigan Foundation for Agriculture.

Robert is the beloved father of Connie (David) McCredie, Neil (JoAnn) Braden,
and Lisa (Ian) Baldwin; loving grandfather of Braden McCredie and Todd (Julie)
McCredie, and Chad(Kate) Braden, Meghan(Brad) Benn, and Nichol(Tim)
Trattles; loving great grandfather of Lilli and Lauren McCredie, and Adrienne
and Ellery Holmes and Hailey and Jax Braden, and Wyatt, Sawyer, and
Savannah Benn, and Colin and Mason Trattles. He was predeceased by his
wife, Doris Marie (Nelson) Braden in March, 2009.

Robert was born in Byron, Michigan on January 30, 1922. He graduated from
Byron High School in 1939 and attended Michigan State University. Upon
graduation from MSU in 1943, Robert entered the U.S. Army and served in the
European Theatre - most notably the Battle of the Bulge and the Bridge of
Remagen. He achieved the rank of Captain and earned two Bronze Stars.

Robert returned from World War II in June of 1946. Robert then married
Doris Nelson on December 16, 1946 at her parent’s home in Byron.
Robert and Doris raised their family on the family farm in Byron
then Bad Axe, MI and then again in Byron. Robert’s careers were involved in
agriculture and teaching, with his last years as Administrative Director of
Michigan Farm Bureau. He was a staunch Byron school supporter, Byron
Little League, and active with Union Plains Cemetery. He was a member of the
