The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 2PM until 8PM and at the church on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service. Nancy was born September 30, 1935, to Louma (LaBean) and Floyd MacKenzie. She was the fourth of seven children, and at a young age took on the care of her younger siblings when her parents divorced. Nancy met Kendall Bindschatel her senior year of high school, and they were married on April 19, 1953. As a young bride she followed her Navy husband to California where they lived in a Quonset hut. When Kendall was stationed in Korea during the Korean War, she returned home to Michigan. In 1956, they welcomed their first child to the world and proceeded to welcome five more children that Nancy stayed home to raise. She never let her family go without and was a master at making a dollar stretch - proudly raising six healthy children. Nancy was a good cook and seamstress, and she was actively involved in the West Vienna United Methodist Church with her husband, Kendall. Together they raised their children in the church. Nancy always set a good example for her kids for she never drank, smoked, or swore.

In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, quilting, sewing, playing scrabble, camping, and taking care of her most valuable possessions – her family. She was the happiest when her family came home to visit and was even happier when they brought home grandchildren for her to love. Kendall and Nancy loved to travel, especially out of state to visit their children. They made several trips across the country to Washington and made many memories along the way. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother. On March 17, 2017, she was sadly separated from Kendall when he passed away. After losing her best friend, her life was never the same and she mourned him deeply. As with many others her age, over time, Nancy’s memories began to fade as her health began to fail. She was living in her daughter’s home, surrounded by those who loved her, every day. Nancy will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Julie Whitaker, Nancy’s in-home caregiver, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their love, attention, and care during Nancy’s final years of life.

Nancy is forever remembered by her Children: Cheryl (John) Pare; Brenda Bindschatel, Mary (Rob) Schultz, Diane (Will)Sanborn, Kendall (Kimberli) Bindschatel II, and Amy (Marquis Fisher) Mullis; 10 Grandchildren; 13 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Kendall; Siblings; Baby Boy Bindschatel.
