GIBBS, Norma H. – of Millington, age 93, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, October 5, 2020, A private family graveside service and burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Arbela Twp., with Pastor Dan Eaton officiating. A Memorial Service for all to attend will take place at the Gibbs Family Park in the spring. Contributions may be made to Bethel Chapel Assembly of God in Norma’s name.
Norma was born March 7, 1927 in Ecorse, Michigan, to the late Amasa and May (Hursh) Maxson. She grew up in Otisville and that is where she attended school and graduated. On June 24, 1945, Norma and Vincent W. Gibbs, were united in marriage at her parent’s home in Otisville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2009. She was a wonderful homemaker, who enjoyed raising her family and working on her farm. She loved her Lord and loved working in her church Bethel Chapel Assembly of God in Arbela Twp. She taught Sunday School and was the Women’s ministry leader for many years and was great at encouraging people. Norma enjoyed nature and being outdoors, working in her flower beds and garden. From her garden she enjoyed canning all sort of vegetables from beans, tomatoes, pickles, relish and jams. She would do anything that needed to be done, from freezing corn, milking cows, to making her own soap. Norma and Vincent had very caring hearts for people. Over the years they took in over 20 people into their home in need of a place to stay. The most important thing in Norma’s life besides her Lord was her family. She tried to make each grandchild’s special events and was always the last one to leave the family park after a picnic or large get together. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are; her beloved children; Dennis J. (Trudy) Gibbs, Daniel (Sandi) Gibbs, Mary Lee (Alex) Bock and Susan (Russ) Williams all of Millington; dearest grandmother of 24, great-grandmother of 29 and great great grandmother of 11. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Norma is preceded in death by her loving husband Vincent, dearest daughter Kay, 5 sisters and 6 brothers.
