HILL, William Ira Jr. - Of Swartz Creek, age 84, died Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, May 7, 2019
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Cadillac Memorial Garden West in Westland, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shults-Lewis Child and Family Services, Valparaiso, Indiana.
Visitation 4-8pm Monday and 10am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
William was born in Detroit on December 6, 1934, the son of William and Edith Lucille (Teeter) Hill. Throughout high school he played baseball and was even scouted by the New York Giants. He loved baseball, golf and enjoyed working outside, cards and loved his convertible. William worked for Detroit Edison for 43 years and loved his job. He was also an IBEW member. William was a Christian man and previously served as a Deacon for Brighton Church of Christ. He was an honorable man of high integrity, was always there to help, and was a good provider. Above all, William’s main priority was his family.
Surviving are loving wife, Peggy Bassett-Hill;
sister, Barbara Lynn Jenkins;
children, Suzanne (Jeff) Oblinsky, Steven (Yedda) Hill, Shari (Jim) Glenn;
step-daughter, Melanie (Bill) Anderson;
and 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Marie Hill, daughter, Sara Leigh and parents, William and Lucille Hill.
