A. EDWARD LACLAIR, age 88, of Lapeer, passed away on August 3, 2016.
Ed is survived by his spouse Bonnie LaClair, children Kathy (Chuck) Smith, Jeanne (David) Wilson, Joe (Lynne) LaClair, Michael LaClair, Lynn Brim, John LaClair (fiancé Geri Newberry), grandchildren Matt Brim, Katey Sue Smith and Thomas LaClair, and his four sisters Marguerite Weibel, Rosemary Dmoch, Eileen (Bill) Toth, and Delores Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adelor & Anna LaClair and stepmother Bea, his brother Gerald and sister Dorothy McMunigal.
Ed was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer, St Vincent de Paul Society, American Legion Post 16 and Honor Guard, Lapeer Rotary and the Knights of Columbus. Ed owned and operated Ross Automotive Supply for 45 years and served on the Lapeer County Bank and Trust Board of Directors for 18 years. He gave generously to his church and community his entire life, including S.C.O.R.E and he engaged life to the fullest and no one he met was a stranger.
Ed worked hard, played hard and he enjoyed golfing time with family and friends, especially the 19th hole. He was an avid fisherman, bowler and planted many trees throughout his life. He especially enjoyed throwing down cards in a game of Euchre.
The family would like to thank Kathy Reiser for her love and care for Ed for the past two years, for if not for her, he would have been unable to stay at home.
Visitation will be at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home - Capstick Chapel, 542 Liberty Park in Lapeer on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 2 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary Service. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard. Memorial donations made to St. Vincent de Paul, Bishop Kelly Catholic School or American Legion Post #16 are greatly appreciated. |
