BOREK, George J. – of Clio, age 83, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at McLaren Flint. Funeral Mass will be 10:30AM Saturday, February 23, 2013 at SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Fr. Bob McGraw officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8PM. Contributions may be made to Kindred Spirit – Christian home for handicapped adults.
George was born December 31, 1929 in Ironwood, Michigan to the late John and Jane (Buda) Borek. He joined the US Air Force and saw action in Korea and Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. George retired in 1973 as a Master Sergeant. He lived in the Clio area since 1974. Mr. Borek was employed at the Flint Board of Education where he retired after 19 years of service. He was a member of SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church and the VFW.
Surviving are: Wife of 53 years, Renee “Elisabeth”; Children, Steven (Brandi) Borek of Burton, Denise Husted of Arizona and Michael Borek of Clio; Grandchildren, Alex (C.J.) Kwiatkowski, Sam Husted and Andi Husted; Great Grandson Cade; sister Maxine Sharpe of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews. George was also preceded in death by his brother John Borek.
