James Robert Navarre, 55, of Durand, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Funeral service will be held on Daytona Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2:00pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel, 501 N. Saginaw St. Durand. The Navarre family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 1-4pm and 6-8pm.
James was born on June 13, 1964 in Detroit, Michigan to Melvin Plotkowski and the late Diane Handwerker. He graduated from Fenton high School in the class of 1982 and spent his working career as a Maintenance Supervisor. On September 7, 2011 Jim married Jill Annette Stanfill. Jim was a selfless person, he was always there with a helping hand and making sure everyone else was ok. Jim loved anything that went fast, he was a track official at the Owosso Speedway, he also raced there; he helped numerous people fabricate and build race cars. He loved a good game of pool, vintage cars, and NASCAR Racing. Jim will always be remembered for his annual Daytona party and being the caretaker of others.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jill, children; Rosie (Niles) Spencer, Amanda Snowden, Andrew (Trisha) Heath and Gabriel (Haley) Heath. His grandchildren; Chase, Emma, Tucker, Ellie, Prim, and Connor. His nieces and nephews; Tiffany, Heather, Brandon, Caitlin, and Tyler. His siblings; Dan (Pam) Navarre, Paula (Joe) Wiertalla, and Charlie Plotkowski, also his biological father, Melvin Plotkowski.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Lou and Sylvia, his mother, Diane Ray, and his adopted father, Jim Navarre.
Memorial contributions in Jim’s name can be directed to the Durand Eagles Club where he was a member for 17 years.
