MCCORMICK JR., Elmer James – of Clovis, CA, age 97, went to sleep peacefully on September 14, 2016 and awaits the call of his Savior on resurrection morning. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:30 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Jonny Moor officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6-8 PM. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday.
Elmer was born in Goodrich, MI on February 2, 1919, son of the late Elmer James McCormick, Sr. and Effie Rayner McCormick. Elmer was a graduate of Goodrich High School and president of his senior class. He proudly served his country as a military policeman, stationed at the embassy in Paris, France, near the close of WWII. Before and after the war, he was a farmer and later became a businessman. Elmer was actively engaged in hobby gardening and lived in the home of Tim and Delnita McCormick up until his passing. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Left to cherish his beautiful memories are his children, Terry (Virginia) McCormick of Greenwood, LA; Vickie (Dean) Metteauer of Gray, GA, Timothy (Delnita) McCormick of Clovis, CA, Nancy Hissa of Espoo, Finland; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Doris Hill McCormick; grandson, Thomas Hissa; four sisters and one brother.
