PALMER, Richard L. - of Clio, formerly Burt, age 66, died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3PM Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastor Ted McCulloch officiating. Cremation to follow. Inurnment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at a later date. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12PM until 9PM and on Thursday from 12PM until the time of service at 3PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Richard was born May 18, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Norm and Evelyn (Smith) Palmer. He married Patricia Cataline on September 9, 1972. Mr. Palmer is a U.S. Army Veteran. Richard retired from Flint Truck and Bus in 1998 with 26 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #598. He enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and playing cards, especially Euchre and poker. Richard also enjoyed trips to the casino and was quite the jokester. He loved driving fast cars and driving his 1989 Silverado. Above all, Richard loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are: Wife, Patti Palmer; Daughter, Audra Young (Jason Ruiz); Son, Dustin Palmer (Tony Revord); 4 grandchildren: Tanner, Sierra, Savanah, and Eliana; Brother, Norm (Louanne) Palmer; Sisters: Marsha Wendling, and Madelyn Niemeyer-Palmer (Mark); Many nephews and nieces, with special nephew and niece: Bob and Becky; Special friends: Walt, Jimmy, and Randy. Many other loving family members and dear friends. Richard was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Palmer Sr.; Nephew, Ryan Palmer; Sister, Michelle Palmer; Many special aunts and uncles.
