MORRIS, William Rufus – Of Flint, age 91, died Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Bella Vita Memory Care.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Mr. Paul Holland officiating.
Visitation 1-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Mid-Michigan.
William was born in Second Creek-Lutts, Tennessee on September 21, 1928, the son of Luther and Florence (McFall) Morris. On October 12, 1974, he married Gladys Mae Morgan at Grand Blanc Church of Christ. William enjoyed working for General Motors as a painter and many other positions for 47 years and retired in 1996. He was a member and Deacon of the Swartz Creek Church of Christ and a lifelong member of The Church of Christ. William was also a member of Parents Without Partners, where he headed up children activities. He enjoyed fishing hunting, bowling, gardening and nature.
Surviving are wife of 45 years, Gladys Mae Morris;
Daughter Sandi and James Smith;
Son, William R. Morris and Lisa;
Stepson, Bill Sale;
Step-daughters, Ron and Brenda Taylor and L. Elaine Henderson and James Evans;
Step-son, Michael Sale;
Grandchildren, Tom Garty (Rebecca Anderson), Steve Garty (Cyndi), Stacy Garty (Keith Dixon), Teresa Quinn (Dr. M. Quinn), Bob Zirnhelt (Ashly), Brad Zirnhelt (Mandy), Crystal Charvat (Roy) Curtis Henderson, Tonya Amaya, Tina Davis, Leslie Sale Barkee (Chad), Ryan Sale and Stephen Sale;
Many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
