CONROY, Raymond Francis – of Davison, age 84, passed away January 16, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski and Fr. Kenneth Coughlin concelebrating. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 pm Monday and 11 am – 2 pm & 4-8 pm Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm Monday and a Memorial Service under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus Davison Council #4090 3rd and 4th Degree will be held at 6 pm Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Hill Education and Therapy Center, 5130 Rose Hill Blvd., Holly, MI 48442.
Raymond was born in Flint, MI on December 1, 1929, son of the late Martin and Agnes (Thurston) Conroy. He graduated from Kearsley High School in 1947 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1948. Raymond served honorably until September 5, 1952 after two years on the USS Tarawa and two years on the USS Midway. He married Tomasa Perez on November 6, 1954 and she preceded him in death on September 1, 1986. Raymond married Everill Berridge on January 25, 1992. He retired from Chevrolet after 39 years of service. Raymond was a member of the Knights of Columbus Davison Council #4090, VFW Davison Post #4087,Burton Eagles, Moose Lodge and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He will be remembered by family and friends for his great faith, love for his family and friends, storytelling and many hours spent with his K of C Buddies.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife and constant companion of 22 years, Everill; children, Mark Conroy, David (Karen) Conroy, Barbara (Keith) Haske, Joseph (Kathy) Conroy, Marie (Michael) Grezlik, Frances Rae Conroy, Glenn Conroy and companion, Michelle, Gene and Mona Williams; grandchildren, Briana (Brian) Padgett, Ben, Ray, Sarah, LeAnne, Leslie, Tyler, Chelsey, Jacob, Kyle, Michael, Zachary, Rachel, Jenna, Max, Lindsay, David, Nathan and Katie; great-grandchildren, Noah and Isla; brothers, Robert (Sally) Conroy, William (Bonna) Conroy; sisters, Rosemary French and Bernadette (Donald) McKeever. He was preceded in death by grandson, Jordan; siblings, Jamie, Eleanor, Pat and Joe. The family is grateful for all the friendship and love that was shared with Ray and his family.
