GOHL, Dorothy May (Tuck)- Of Swartz Creek, age 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Honoring Dorothy’s wishes, Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society or the North End Soup Kitchen.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Dorothy was born in Flint on July 8, 1925, the daughter of Glen and Dorothy (McLeod) Tuck. She graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class 0f 1943, and later attended classes at Mott Community College. She married William M. Gohl on December 20, 1944. They shared fifty wonderful years together until William’s death in 1995. Dorothy was employed by the Flint Board of Education for over 23 years, first as a library assistant at the Flint Public Library, then as an instructional material clerk at Northwestern High school and finally as a home school counselor at Bunche and Potter Elementary Community Schools. She retired from Potter School in 1981. For many years, she was a member of Holy Redeemer Altar Society and an active member of their Booster Club. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, loved to play golf and spent many hours at Genesee Hills Golf Course sharing those times with family and friends. She was a seamstress, an artist, loved to read, knit and cook. Dorothy loved every aspect of life, was always an optimist and a happy person. Most of all she treasured times spent with her beloved family. She taught her children to be kind and thoughtful and to always have a positive attitude about life. She considered her children to be her greatest achievement in her life and they, and their families were always a constant source of pride and joy to her.
Surviving are her three children, Michael and wife Elaine Gohl of Swartz Creek, Connie and husband Joe Lajewski of Grand Blanc and Steve Gohl of Flint;
grandchildren, Greg Gohl, Juli Gohl, Kimberly Cross, Joey Lajewski, Staci Pawluk, Crystal Gohl and Derek Gohl;
great-grandchildren, Austen and Nolan Gohl, Katie and Sara Pawluk, Amelia and Olivia Cross and Madison and Peyton Lajewski;
brother, Glen and wife Roberta Tuck, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and daughter-in-law, Dawn Gohl.
