BAKER, Kenneth W. “Shorty” – of Flint, age 82, died Saturday, July 6, 2019 at McLaren – Flint. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at West Side Baptist Church, 5090 Pasadena Ave, Flushing. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted under the direction of VFW Post #1452. Family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Tuesday from 4PM until 8PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Baptist Church.
Ken was born May 24, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to the late Kenneth E. and Ada (Matney) Baker. He graduated from Gladwin High School in 1955. Ken proudly served in the United States Army. He married Bernice Nichols on October 12, 1979 in Flint. Ken retired from Buick in 1999 after 35 years of seniority and was a member of UAW Local #599. He was also a member of West Side Baptist Church and Flushing Road Runners Square Dance Club. Ken enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing and enjoying everything about the outdoors. He loved woodworking, especially making different toys, trucks and trains.
Surviving are: Wife of 39 years, Bernice Baker; Children: Lori (Gene) Thompson, Larry Baker, Jessie (Bruce) Lawrence, David Cole, Tammy (Kevin) Theriac, John (Judy) Baker, Richard (Candy) Baker and Melody (Bryan) Alles; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and brother, Richard (Janet) Baker.
