SCHREFFLER, LAWRENCE L. “LARRY” - Of Swartz Creek, age 79, died Monday, November 11, 2024 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Central Church of the Nazarene, G-1261 West Bristol Road, Flint, Pastor Jon Gildner officiating. Private burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries, Leader Dogs for the Blind or McLaren Hospice.
Visitation 11 a.m. Saturday at church until the time of the service.
Lawrence was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 4, 1945, son of the late Le Von J. and Genevive (Freshney) Schreffler. He graduated from North Farmington High School Class of 1965. During high school he DJ’d at all the dances and community functions. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968–1969. On April 5, 1999 he married Gale Cash in Las Vegas. He attended Central Church of the Nazarene-Flint for 22 years. He was Captain of the Volunteer Fire Department of Farmington Hills, Michigan for 12 years. For 25 years he loved sailing his 28’ boat all over Lakes Huron and Michigan and in the North Channel of Canada. Lawrence retired from Ford Motor Company-Wixom in 1999, after 27 years of service. He loved wood working; kitchen and bathroom remodeling, helping others-his neighbors and most of all his family. He loved to travel and stayed winters all over the South.
Surviving are his wife, Gale, of 25 years; son, Rick (Crystal) Miller; daughter, Bonnie Black; grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica, Regan and Calen; great-granddaughter, Sophia; bonus grandpa to Timmy, Meghan, Matthew, Faith and Hope;sister, Kathy (Bill) Miller and nephew, Martin Thayer.
