HUEY, Dr. Elbert Charles – Of Flushing, MI, age 82, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at Rossell Funeral Home, and 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the funeral home, and 10 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass Tuesday at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic School. Elbert was born in Detroit, MI on May 13, 1935, the son of N.L. and Edith (Prykucki) Huey. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit in 1961. Elbert married Karen Jean Kraus on January 26, 1963 and has been happily married for 54 years. He served in the United States Army as a Captain from 1961 to 1963 in Germany and opened a successful Family Dental Practice in Flushing in 1964. Elbert was very active in the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and numerous community organizations. He enjoyed various social activities and playing and coaching sports. Above all, Elbert enjoyed spending time with family. Elbert is survived by: his wife, Karen; children, Christopher and wife Natalie of Denver, CO; Michael and wife Rene of Grand Blanc, MI; Lorraine (“Lori”) Reames of Flushing, MI; Linda and husband Everette Reynolds of Charleston, SC; Lisa and husband Mark Wojdula of Reese, MI; Paul and wife Stacie of Flushing, MI; and Brian of Reese, MI; fifteen grandchildren; and his brothers, Herbert and Lee. He was preceded in death by his son David; parents, N.L. and Edith, his brother Gilbert, and his sister Ann Sailor. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Neema for her empathetic and devoted hospice care during a very difficult time. |
