VANGILDER, Shirley L. (Torrey) – Of Flushing, age 74, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jim Salo officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Muscular Dystrophy. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Shirley was born July 23, 1937 in Flint, Michigan, where she lived until moving to Flushing 12 years ago. On March 14, 1953 she married John Vangilder. She enjoyed fishing, singing, flying, crocheting, ceramics, talking, and her faith in God. Surviving are husband, Johnnie; daughters, Deborah (Richard) Nickerson and Karen Vangilder; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Dennis Vangilder.
