HNILICA, Jane Ann - Age 72, of Fenton, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St, Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Friday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM and at church Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to the Jane Ann Hnilica Memorial Fund, c/o Jane's grandchildren's college fund.

Jane was born May 14, 1945 in Escanaba, the daughter of Norbert and Arlene (Fahey) Johnson. She graduated from Holy Name Catholic High School in Escanaba and then from Northern Michigan University in Marquette with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She married Frederick Carl Hnilica August 16, 1968 in Escanaba. She retired after 38 years as a teacher at Patterson Elementary in the Holly Community School system. Jane was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoyed golfing, cooking, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Most of all Jane enjoyed spending time with her family and dedicating her retired life to her grandchildren. Jane was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who also went above and beyond for all of those who loved her.

She is survived by: her husband, Frederick; children, Frederick Hnilica, Jr. of Fenton, Jennifer Hnilica of Grand Haven, Corey (Erika) Hnilica of Swartz Creek, and Bethany (Jason) Wright of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Lillian, Luke, Riley, and Emmett; siblings, Jack Johnson of Lansing, Sally (Mike) Larsen of Munising, Nonie (Steve) VanEffen of Fenton; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Susan Anderson; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Hutchinson. Online tributes may be posted on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
