BRONSON, James Elwood of Clio, age 77, died Monday, October 19, 2020 at Karmanos Cancer Institute. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Clio Community Church God. Pastor Jim Horn officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 3-8 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio and from 10:00 AM until time of service at the Community Church of God. Memorial contributions can be made to Clio Fire Inc. Due to COV-19 masks and social distance will be required. If you cannot make the service, live streaming is available on the Community Church of God’s facebook page.
James was born June 24, 1943 in Hale, Michigan to the late Henry and Genevieve (Goupil) Bronson. He grew up in Tawas, Michigan and graduated from Tawas High School with the class of 1961. He served in the US Army reserves for 6 years. On June 12, 1965 he married Janice McBride in Flint, Michigan. James owned and operated West Town Barber Shop in Clio for 44 years. He served as Fire Chief for the Clio Fire Department for 20 years and had served 42 years on the fire department. James was past President of the Genesee County Fire Chiefs Association and was instrumental in building Clio Station 1. The Training Room at the Clio Fire Department is named after him. He enjoyed old cars, jeeps, RVing and spending winters with his wife in Florida. However, spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren activities was his greatest joy in life.
Surviving are; Wife of 55 years, Jan Bronson; Children, Jami (Tammie) Bronson, James (Kathryn) Bronson, Jennifer (Bobby) Atkin; Grandchildren, Jacob Easterly, Joshua Easterly, Bradly Bronson, Hayleigh Atkin, Heather Atkin, Seth Bronson, Jacey Morgan; Great Grandchildren, Isabelle Easterly, Ireland Easterly; Siblings, Jack Bronson, Jerry Bronson, Arlene Dillon, Jay (Lucy) Bronson.
