SPRINGGAY, Ruth E. – of Clio, age 94, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Cranberry Park Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Jay Cummings officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8PM and on Saturday from 12 Noon until time of services at 1PM. Contributions may be made to Clio Cast and Crew or Bethany United Methodist Church.
Ruth was born in Gladwin County on July 12, 1920 to the late William and Nola (Reitz) Diffin. She moved to Clio in 1926 and graduated as salutatorian from Clio High School in 1939. She married Lloyd P. Springgay. Mrs. Springgay retired from Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing as a secretary to the Superintendent of Industrial Engineering. She was a member of Clio Cast and Crew, Bethany United Methodist Church, the Easter Circle, Order of Eastern Star Vienna Chapter 283, International Business Girls, Red Hat Society and the Birthday Club. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, anagrams, golfing and baking for friends and neighbors.
Surviving are: three sons, Alan (Kay) Springgay of South Lyon, Dennis (Peg) Springgay of Gilroy, CA, Jeff Springgay (Ron) of Clio; 4 grandchildren, Bret (Claudia) Springgay of Ann Arbor, Deedra Springgay of Ypsilanti, Jessica (Jared) Frantzich of CA, Jared Springgay of CA; 2 great granddaughters, Lauren and Deanna Springgay of Ann Arbor.
