YOUNG, Esther “Ruth” (Lee) – Of Flint, age 98, died Friday, October 31, 2014 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Brenda Etheridge officiating.
Entombment at Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Unity Christian Church.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Esther was born in Wexford County, Michigan on October 25, 1916, the daughter of Leonard and Florence Lee and was a resident of the Flint area since 1941.
She married Ivan Young on June 24, 1987 and he preceded her in death in 1995.
She was a member of Unity Christian Church; the 10 or more Club with AC Spark Plug. She was a volunteer with the Flint Schools and Willowbrook Nursing Home.
Mrs. Young was a competitive Ballroom Dancer for over 15 years. She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed working with watercolors.
Mrs. Young retired from AC Spark Plug in 1981, after 38.9 years of service.
Surviving are two step-daughters, Jodie Bailey, Joyce and husband Forrest Bailey;
9 step-grandchildren;
18 step-great-grandchildren;
5 step-great-great-grandchildren;
brother, Georgell (Ruth) Lee;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
