ALMASY, Gus Steve – of Mt. Morris, age 73, died Monday, August 24, 2015 at his residence. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Friday, August 28, 2015 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Clark Almasy officiating. Inurnment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 AM until time of services at 3 PM. Contributions may be made to McLaren Home Health and Hospice or the Auto City Eagles Aerie.

Gus was born April 11, 1942 in Flint to the late Gustaf and Charlotte (Hobson) Almasy. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving his country from 1959 to 1962 which included a 13 month deployment to Korea. While in the Army, he met the love of his life, Mary Lou. They were married on January 4, 1960. Over their 55 plus years of marriage, they were blessed with four children and six grandchildren. Gus worked for General Motors for 33 years, retiring from Powertrain in 1997. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his sons and friends enjoying the outdoors. He will be remembered as a loyal and true friend to the guys at the White Eagle.

Surviving are: Wife, Mary Lou; Children: Ron (Kathy) Almasy of Clio, Anna (Ron) Allison of Clio, Gus Jr. Almasy of Trout Creek, Ben (Tonya Jackson) Almasy of Mt. Morris; 6 Grandchildren: Danny, Joe, Matthew, Cody, Brooke and Kamryn; beloved dog, Milo; Brother, Ron Almasy; Sister, Marge Burris; Sisters-in-law, Sylvia (Talmadge) Baggett, Marie Akins, Marlene Gibbons, Rachel Payne; Brothers-in-law, Wayne Bigbie, Tony Bigbie; and a host of many special friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank McLaren Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and compassion, and a very special thank you to Tonya who helped Dad so much during his illness.
