Matthew “Matt” Wayne Thomas, aged 49, passed away at his residence in Bay City, Michigan on June 4, 2024. He fought a courageous battle and succumbed to Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer.
He was born on July 18, 1974 in Flint, Michigan. Matt grew up in Flushing and graduated from Flushing High School - Class of 1992. He enjoyed listening to music, riding dirt bikes, playing ice hockey, and fishing at Point Au Gres and Bay City Veterans Memorial Park. He was a handy man, had many experienced years in construction work and was employed at Alro Steel. Matt will be deeply missed by all his family and friends, including his beloved cats, Ella and Eloise “Weezie”.
He is survived by his fiancée, Priscilla Williams; his mother, Linda (Robert) Keys; his children, Lea (Brandon) Hickmott, Elizabeth (Andrew) Wagster; his grandchildren, Joslyn Hickmott, Makenna Hickmott, Lila Dempsey, and Luca Wagster; and his sisters, Denise Thomas, and Susan (Mark) Rennie. He was predeceased by his father, Jerry W. Thomas.
To honor his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
