ROBERT LLOYD HOURTIENNE, age 83, died on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his children. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday August 28, 2017, at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home, with Rev. Ann Norton officiating. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 1-8PM. Burial will take place following the service at Thetford Twp. Cemetery. Robert, bob to friends, bobby to family, was born on his family’s farm on September 11, 1933 the third son of J.F. and Agnes (Davidson) Hourtienne. He graduated from Millington High School in 1951. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and shipped out to Korea, attaining the rank of corporal and earning two purple hearts in a single tour of duty. He returned home and married his soulmate, Delana Jane Smith on September 25, 1954. In 1955 his daughter Debra Ann was born. At her birth, bobby fell in love with little girls, telling them amazing fairytales and hosting tea parties complete with fancy place settings and tiny bologna finger sandwiches. In 1958, Jeffrey Robert was born, completing the family; and quickly becoming the apple of Bobby’s eye with his athletic ability and kind soul. Bob worked at Fisher Body-Coldwater Road until his retirement. Bob and Delana were married for fifty-nine years before her death in 2013. They enjoyed a magnificent life together. Bob particularly enjoyed Las Vegas; Delana’s cooking, knowing everything about the stock market, and a good glass of iced tea. His favorite thing ever was cuddling all his babies. Robert is survived by his Children: Debra (Lloyd) Hemingway, and Jeffrey (Karen) Hourtienne; his grandchildren Jodi (Corey) Hemingway, Nelson (Jamie) Hemingway, Nathan Hemingway, Mitchell (Lynsey) Hourtienne, and Shannon (Socheat) Mang; 12 greatgrand children; brothers Bryon Hourtienne, and Ronald Hourtienne. He was preceded in death by his wife Delana, his parents, brother Bernard Hourtienne, and great granddaughter Susannah Lee Hemingway. The family would like to thank Dr. Sridhar Rao, and the nurses from Reverence Hospice care for their Loving support to Robert and family during this difficult time. |
