PENNELL, Alan D. “Hooker” of Flint, age 69, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 at The Pines of Burton. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, December 13, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI, 48423; David Pennell officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will take place in Richfield Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4PM and 6-8PM Thursday and 10AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Alan was born in Flint, MI on April 7, 1950, the son of the late Herbert Elwood and Carol Jean (Strayer) Pennell. He graduated from Kearsley High School in 1968. Alan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 where he served one tour in Vietnam. He retired from General Motors V8 Engine plant after 30 years of service. He loved to ride his motorcycle, woodworking, spending time at the cabin and “tinkering” with his tools in his barn. Alan especially enjoyed riding his Hot-Rod.
Alan is survived by his son, Eric; his significant other of over 40 years, Karen Snear; brothers, William (Pam) Pennell; Curtis (Teresa) Pennell; Karen’s son, James (Amy) and grandson, Kayden; best friend, Jim “Dog” Coan. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the staff at The Pines of Burton for their wonderful care. In addition, special thanks to Hubbards Military Supply for their compassion towards Alan.
