Petitt, Linda Lou of Flushing, age 67, passed away on January 18, 2016, in Flint after a long courageous battle with diabetes, kidney and associated complications. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at Calvary Community Church, Flint. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the service. Burial will be held privately at Smith Hill Cemetery, Otisville. Pastor Sarah LaRose will officiate. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, American Diabetes Association or Calvary Community Church.
Linda was born in Flint, Michigan on April 28, 1948, the daughter of Orville and Betty (Smith) Petitt. She graduated from Lapeer High School in 1966. Linda had worked for the Flint Journal and retired in 2007 after 38 ½ years of service. She was a member of the American Business Women for eight years , Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Calvary Community Church. She fought hard through many significant health challenges and adversity while always trying to remain strong and positive. Her guardian angels truly watched over her. Linda enjoyed house decorating, her rock garden and flower arranging. Her nieces and nephews would call her home “Aunt Linda's Boutique” and her family referred to her as the “energizer bunny”.
Linda is survived by her sister, Beverly (James) Seling; brother-in-law, Ron Meredith; nieces and nephews, Jodi, Pam, Mike, Dave, Ron, Debbie; and many great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express thanks to Linda's friends, Rob and Kathy Sager, Dee Eggert, Linda Rumbel, Sandy Gibbs, Sue Eggar, Sandy Rich, Torrey Van Slyke, Karen Curtis, and Janene Peel. Please know our sincere gratitude to her family physicians, many specialists and healthcare workers for their outstanding care, concern and compassion. The family also wishes to express our appreciation for Heartland Hospice, DaVita Dialysis of Flushing and Sugarbush Manor Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Meredith; brothers, Paul and Charles. |
