COONROD, Georgina M. – of Chesaning, died Monday, May 6, 2024, at her residence. She was 91 years of age.
Georgina was born November 22, 1932, in Bay City to the late George and Edna (Marquardt) McCann and was a resident of Chesaning for over 70 years. She was a graduate of Handy High School in Bay City. She was united in marriage to Bernard Coonrod on October 4, 1952. Mrs. Coonrod was the secretary-treasurer for the family business, Coonrod Trenching. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling at Pintown, canning, cooking, gardening and playing cards every night. Georgina founded TOPS in Chesaning, volunteered at the CAER center and was active in many church activities. She loved being home and being with family and friends. She was known for her professional homemade soup.
Surviving are: husband, Bernard; children: Kathleen (Kevin) Smith of Oakley, Gertie (Mike) Meier of Naubinway, Wanda (Larry) FiField of Burt, Joan (Henry) Delbridge of Burt, Rose (Dale) Reiber of Chesaning, Bernei (Beth) Coonrod of Chesaning; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was also preceded in death by: 2 daughters, Vivian Cook and Nancy Kettle; a grandson Scott Coonrod; 5 brothers and sisters: Delbert McCann, Janet Janson, Donald McCann, Larry McCann and Amy Osterhout.
Funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Fr. Raj Bandaru officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 12 noon until time of mass at 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be prayed by the Knights of Columbus 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Memorial Healthcare Hospice, Saginaw County Fair, Caer Center or St. Peter Catholic Church. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
