FLORES, Roy - Of Flushing, age 76, passed away Friday June 26, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Roy was born in Castroville, Texas on July 1, 1943, the son of Raul Flores and Guadalupe (Alvarado). He moved to Michigan with his family in 1945. Roy was employed by GM Pontiac for 43 years.
Roy had a passion for golf. He was always perfecting his game, playing on golf leagues or with his family. He also spent time hunting for unusual antiques to collect or sell. He particularly loved when his family and friends joined him at auctions, estate sales and flea markets.
Like his father, summertime would find him tending his vegetable garden. More recently he found a love for growing dahlias. Roy was often in the kitchen recreating his mother’s favorite Mexican dishes. Christmas was always a time for the family to make dozens of tamales.
Over everything else, Roy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by many and will greatly be missed.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include his wife Marti (Richardson). Children John, Mark, Lauren, Steven, Blake. Grandchildren Annette and Mireya. 6 brothers, 4 sisters, many nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.
