Gerholz, Robert "Bob" C. - Age 92, of Fenton and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 30, 2019. Cremation has taken place and private services will be held at a future time. Arrangement provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Bob was born December 27, 1926 in Flint, the son of Robert P. and Freda (Clark) Gerholz. He left High School and joined the Merchant Marines where he was an officer, radio operator and the appointed "ship's doctor." Bob attended the University of Wisconsin where he was the president of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity.
Upon leaving Wisconsin, he formed Glendale Builders in Flint, and began building more than 300 homes in Flint and the surrounding areas. He was a past president of The Flint Home Builder's Association and a member of the Flint Rotary Club for over 60 years.
In 1969, Bob married Dorothy Eneix. Between them they have five children. Their vacations were always spent cruising the Great Lakes in various power boats, always named "Mistress." Upon retirement, they switched to sailing. They made eight trips to the Caribbean. On their final voyage, they went out to the St. Lawrence Seaway, across the Atlantic Ocean, spent several months cruising the Mediterranean, then down the coast of Africa.
Once retiring from boating, their three horses became their passion. They rode several times each week until Bob turned 90. Adventures included riding across both the states of Michigan and Florida.
Bob always lived life to the fullest, with great enthusiasm and never let an opportunity for adventure or learning pass him by. Until the very end, he shared his kindness and infectious smile with everyone he encountered. He was a man of great faith and knew that on his final journey he would be welcomed home and into the arms of Jesus.
He is survived by: his beloved wife of 50 years, Dorothy; children, Rob Gerholz, Diana (Jim) Jonske, Julie (Art) Veitas, Mark (Shannon) Eneix, Dana (Duncan) Beagle; grandchildren, Lauren (Brian), Eric, Kelly, Scott, Marina, Liz (Chris), Erika, Devan; great-grandson, Connor; sisters, Barbara (Al) Koegel and Janice Pike; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jane and Bob Croff.
